So I recently exposed myself to the work and life of Jackson Pollack a bit more than I ever had before - I cam away with a new level o respect for the man's work, as well as a bit better understanding of my own. Pollack's work might be, and often is, dismissed by some.  'Splatter painting'  or 'drip painting' is viewed rather negatively by many; mostly, I beleive, as a result of Pollack's many imitators.  What he did is more properly termed 'action painting' and I'd like to explain what I think it's really about. A big argument in art is how the image relates to the medium and the surface - how much is part of the communication we're trying

Evolution

I finally managed to get some pinstripe brushes, as I'd been wanting to do for some time. This means that I'll be able to paint lines much more fluidly, and so make the transition fron pencil drawing to painting a bit easier I think.  I've also decided to stop using canvas board, and go with illustration board instead, for a smoother surface. As a result, you may be seeing a new rash of paintings on here soon.  Also, interestingly, it means my first painting, "Breathe"  will be unique, the first and last of it's kind. Perhaps that's how it should be.  Anyway, it's the way it goes when your style is evolving. Anyway, if you're reading this,
